CHARITY TOURNAMENTS

Tournament rules

How our charity tournaments run, from team sheets to the final whistle. If anything here isn't clear, ask us on WhatsApp.

  1. Teams

    • Seven on court at a time. Squad sizes are set for each event and shown on its form.
    • Swap players at half time, or straight away for an injury.
    • Every team has a captain, who is the committee's contact on the day.
  2. Matches

    • Short games of two halves. The event page shows the half length and the order of play.
    • Be at your court a few minutes early. Games start on time so the day runs to plan.
    • The umpire tosses for the first centre pass, then centre passes take turns.
  3. Scoring

    • Only the Goal Shooter and Goal Attack score, from inside the shooting circle. Each goal is one point.
    • A win is 3 points, a draw 1 and a loss 0. Ties on the table go to goal difference, then goals scored.
  4. Keeping score

    • Each team keeps score for a game or two they aren't playing in. We'll tell captains which ones.
    • It's super easy: count how many times the ball goes in at each end on the scorecard we'll give you at the main desk.
  5. Umpires

    • Two umpires per game, and nobody umpires while their own team is playing.
    • The umpire's call is final. This is a fun day out for charity with volunteer umpires, so let's be good sports and take any issues to your captain, off court.
  6. Safety

    • Trainers on, jewellery off (tape over a ring that won't come off) and nails short.
    • Drink plenty of water. Tell an organiser straight away about any injury. First aid is on site.
    • Everyone ticks the medical waiver when they sign up.
  7. Fair play

    • It's for charity. It's fancy dress. Play hard, play fair, and no dangerous contact.
    • Respect the umpires, the scorers, the other teams and the club.
